I'd guess this drawing dates from the mid- to late 19th century and maybe it is Scottish

Lifting off the lid reveals the basket's cedar bark lip as well as its fully saturated original colors

This one I am pretty sure is meant to be a penguin, and I believe dates from the 1930s. I especially love the long plug nose and the painted flipper arms at his sides, and place him on a slight incline with a little push and he's a great little walker! 4 1 2" tall x 1 7 8" wide and deep.
