Here we have a very interesting weapon, a very nice U. S. early 19th century "Militia Musket" from New England, made circa 1820 with a British Brown Bess Lock. The lock is correctly marked TOWER across the tail and bears the CROWN stamping to the center, however the expected "G. R" beneath the crown is absent. This indicates that this lock was never in ownership of the British Government and had been sold as an Export
