Very sound and not in the least delicate

19th century New England I believe with its original paint

hand-hewn piece of wood with carved teeth at one end--and definitely it was used as there is residue caught between the teeth

and this old one is the real deal and about my favorite I've seen

Giardanella) but I know I have seen a related piece by this same artist elsewhere in person. In any case, while there is some cracking creasing to the board (see detail photos) along the top of the drawing (more visible in some lighting that others), I think it's a really great drawing portraying a boxing match that feels very intimate and sensual.
