Someone more knowledgeable than me identified the woods as walnut with maple inlay

one features black horizontal stripes on against rust

which I think are almost as lovely as the fronts

and they ought to be planted in vessels worthy of them

loaded with what I believe are very large baskets

I have to think this was made by a metalworker as a whimsy of sorts perhaps as a present for a cobbler, or a businessman! but I'm not entirely sure.
