The backs of these terrific old tramp art frames--late 19th or early 20th century I believe--are almost as great as their fronts

with a great patina of stains and scuffs and paint spatters

but occasionally find one that blows me away with its charm and the care and craft invested in its making

There is another uncompleted pencil drawing on reverse

and a couple of pretty minor surface scratches on the seascape aside as pictured

I'm picky about the ones I like though, and these are lovely, clearly played with quite a lot, with softening to the edges of the paint giving an almost ethereal feeling to whatever pattern one forms with them. 25 cubes, measuring 1 1 16" cubed.
