I purchased this old brass boot at an estate sale at the family home of the former Plant Engineer at The United Shoe Machinery Company in Beverly

and the "trunk" in combination with the other disks makes for arrangements that I think are especially sculptural and 1940s modern looking

and compared to most of these one finds

It seems to me to show the influence of South American figurative pottery (Shipibo pottery comes to mind)

with a plate of glass inset over its face

Sold Individually silkscreen vintage sign I purchased this old brassI don't know who carved these fabulous dogs, which were found in South Carolina, but surely they were a dog lover, dedicating themselves to capturing the likeness of eight different species here, and who knows how many more might be out there somewhere? A variety of woods were used, some left dry and others given a thin coat of varnish. I don't think there is a lesser one among them, it just depends on what sort of dog lover one is! Sold individually.
