This is a very scarce model of cartridge box which opens in a peculiar way. The lid is secured by a securing knob on the right side, and lifts leftward held on by the strap on the left side. This example shows period alterations with old stitch holes still visible on the body. There was likely a knob at the bottom which is now on the right side. The lid is embossed with the U. S. N. insignia with small stamped star
