It's a vessel

and one edge and the underside showing old chippy layers of white then grey paint

but the ribbon is so old and brittle I am afraid to try it

Special Old Burl Carved Bird 1930s artwork red-backed deck out thereJust a wonderful old carving from a piece of burl wood, with the grain of the wood giving added life to the body of the bird and making the whole piece feel rather as if in flight. Subtle but really quite a special one I think, actually one of my favorite carvings Iver had. 3 1 8 t x 4 l x 1 3 8 d. There is a small bit of loss to the tail of the bird and to the very tip of its beak, both minor and old and I dont think detracting. Wonderful dry wood
