they're set on what looks to me like a primitive sort of stool--another reminder of how low stools are good for everything:)  I would hang this one over the sideboard in the dining room

and the more ups and downs the faster they go

Then this beautiful dense field of metal links

what is being charted here--and that glorious orange and yellow suggests lots of fire:)--but to this Western eye

An incredible array of faces, for sure (what a cast of characters!) but this gang of shoemakers went full out to showcase their labors for this photograph, holding a variety of shoe forms and staining brushes of and wearing aprons so stained I thought at first
