The jacket has VR collar insignia for the Volunteer Reserve, with U. S. A. rockers on each shoulder, denoting that he was an American volunteer. The jacket has cuff ranks for Pilot Officer, one of the lowest officer ranks in the RAF. Above the left breast pocket is a 2 spot ribbon
