This is a stunning example of a Civil War Union Infantry Officers Slouch Hat worn by an officer of the 8th Infantry Regiment, however we cannot determine if its for the Federal 8th Infantry or one of the state 8th infantry regiments. The hat is a typical 1860s manufactured hat, made of black fur felt with a very short silk hat band. The hat retains some of its sweatband and its officers cord. The hat features an
