it seems there were a whole series of these made for export in the earlyish 20th century featuring an array of different dogs as well as other animals

The whole thing fits perfectly over one's head and face

Wabanaki Sweetgrass Basket Pin Cushion Japanese bronze Great structural condition--super solid--with someI'm becoming a sucker for a sweet pin cushion, in addition to a nice Northeast Coast Native basket, so of course I love this little combination of the two! I believe this one dates to the early 20th century, with the basket woven of sweet grass on a naturally green dyed splint ash structure and the pin cushion a rosy pink velvet. It has seen some use, with small holes in the velvet, but has plenty of years of use in it yet. 2 3 4" diameter x 1 3 8"
