I assume this was an apothecary tin, holding a mixture of some sort, but am not entirely certain. There is some text written on the inside of the lid, which looks to read 10 cents each followed with an 8. 5 which I might guess meant ounces or grams per unit. And a date: November 8, 189_, the exact year faded by
