Description

perhaps as little shovels for scooping sand in the sandbox

making it look rather like a cat

I'm thinking this very sweet cigar box on wheels might have been made by a parent or grandparent long ago as part of a traveling circus set

eyebrows merging into nose and then great little pursed mouth with upturned corners

Great patina

Playing with Pompey c. 1830s Staffordshire Child’s Mug cardboard figure perhaps as little shovels forAs far as I can tell this is a pretty rare one, Staffordshire, c. 1830s. The text reads "Playing with Pompey"; apparently Pompey was a popular dog name in the early 19th century, perhaps deriving from the famous dog of William the Silent, Prince of Orange, whose barking thwarted an assassination attempt! Pretty cute and bouncy little pup here, and I love the girl with her hoop and basket. Transfer decorated with hand painted color. 2 7 8 d x 3 3 4
