A Constabulary Short Sword, by Parker Field & Sons, c.1845 Hold each with a reinforced buttonholeUsed by police forces in the British Isles, including Ireland, during the 19th century, and often referred to as "hangers" due to how they were worn, this particular sword was manufactured by the prominent London gun and sword maker Parker Field & Sons, 233 Holborn, London, and is marked as such on the blade, with brass D ring guard and wooden handle, with 62 cm blade, and matching leather scabbard with brass fittings, very fine.
