Private Patients

Consultations

Appointments are booked in either private room location (Newcastle/Tamworth) by provision of referral and health fund details. These can to be sent to our suite at Newcastle Private Hospital by email, fax or Medical Objects:

Incoming referrals are triaged as to urgency.

Insurance Requirements

Please check if your health fund covers your referred condition as a minimum level of private health fund policy cover is required. For example, spinal patients must be covered for item 51011.

Payment for Consultations

Your consultation fees are payable on the day of your consultation.  You will be advised of A/Prof Hansen’s fee and potential Medicare rebates when you make your booking.

Surgery

Depending on their health fund policy, private patients who are offered surgery may elect to be operated on at Newcastle Private Hospital, Lingard Private Hospital or John Hunter Hospital.

Surgery Fee Estimates

You will be provided with your surgery fee estimate after consultation with A/Prof Hansen for your informed financial consent. We cannot provide surgery quotes to patients without prior consultation with A/Prof Hansen.
