Public Patients

Public (uninsured) patients are seen by A/Prof Hansen and his Registrars at his Neurosurgical Outpatients Clinic, Royal Newcastle Centre, John Hunter Hospital where A/Prof Hansen consults each week.

You must reside in the Hunter New England Local Health District to see A/Prof Hansen as a public patient at that location.

We do not offer uninsured patient appointments in the private rooms regardless of payment due to the heavy demand for consultation with A/Prof Hansen.

Bookings

Appointments are booked by provision of referral and Spine Clinic Form to the Referral Management Centre at John Hunter Hospital:

Incoming referrals are assessed and prioritised according to urgency and you will contacted about your allocated appointment directly from the hospital.

Bulk Billing

Patients seen by A/Prof Hansen in the Neurosurgical Outpatient Clinic at John Hunter Hospital will be bulk billed.

Surgery

Uninsured patients who are offered elective surgery will be added to A/Prof Hansen’s surgery waitlist at John Hunter Hospital.
